Big Idea Pictures!

On Pancake Day, we had great fun having pancake races with pans and big spots. We then went inside to get warm and ate pancakes. We tasted lots of yummy toppings!

Science (everyday materials): We made predictions about whether or not materials would squash, stretch, bend or twist. We had a lot of fun trying these out!

Art (sculpture): We made clay tiles and decorated them using various techniques. These techniques included pointilism and carving. We used crosshatching and a slip to stick 3D decorations onto our clay tiles.

Geography: We learnt about the names and locations of Earth’s 7 continents and 5 seas. We created maps and labelled them. We also located some key countries around the world, including Europe which is the continent we live in. We had lots of fun but I don’t think our blue felt tips did… Wow our Earth has a lot of water!

We found lots of different countries. We also worked out which continent they were in. We thought about whether they were hot or cold. You can read what we wrote in our Big Idea Books to find out more!

Year 1 and 2 made dens in the forest. They were so respectful of the outdoors.

They are great at looking after our world!

At harvest time, we celebrated the wonderful things that grow from our Earth. To support our learning about this, we put on a show!

The Enormous Turnip

In history, we learnt lots about a significant local person called ‘Mother Shipton’.

We went to ‘Mother Shipton’s Cave and the Petrifying Well’. It was great fun!
