Yesterday’s Big Idea: PSHE

Please find below the worksheet from yesterday’s PSHE in case you couldn’t find it.

Apologies – the link took you to the PSHE booklet which had the workheet (but it was in amongst lots of other pages!)

Please bring this worksheet to school with you on Monday alongside the PSHE worksheet that you completed on Tuesday.

Today’s Live Session 11AM

Today’s Live Zoom Subject: Maths

During today’s lesson, we will learn to recognise vertices of shapes and how to count them. We will end with a quiz/activity that summarises our lesson’s learning.

Early Bird Maths

We begin each day with ‘Early Bird Maths’. It is to support children in becoming more fluent with aspects of maths that we have learnt. Similar ideas are repeated so that children become familiar with the four basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Please see below for answers to Wednesday’s Early Bird. Please self-mark your answers.

Whole Class Reading (WCR)

To practise our reading; becoming more fluent and increasing our understanding, we take part in WCR daily. Our objective this term is to retrieve information from a text and record it through writing. This is tricky stuff so there will be lots of opportunities to practise this. As well, there will be a daily challenge to come up with your own questions.

Have a go at the attached, read the text and answer the questions about this piece of text. Then, can you think of any other questions you could ask?

Maths

Check out todays live zoom lesson at 11AM.

Follow the instructions below and complete the worksheet[s].

Before choosing a maths activity from the links below, think about how you feel about the topic. Are you feeling green, orange or red?

I am feeling red/orange: This is okay! It just means you need a little more practise. Have a go at the 2 star challenge. If you can do this and think you could try the 3 star then have a go at that, too!

I am feeling green: Great! I’m glad you feel that you understand the topic. Have a go at the 3 star challenge!

Watch the video below entitled ”Count vertices on 2D shapes” via the below link. Listen to the narrator. He will ask you some questions, pause the video when asked and have a go yourself!

Big Idea – DT

Next week in school, we will begin making our own moving car. We will learn how to use different tools, including glue guns, hammers, nails and saws.

Your job for today is to research different examples of people making toy cars. You can find lots of examples of videos on YouTube.

Write down materials that you think you will need to make your toy car.

Discuss with an adult:

Have these materials changed since your design on Monday? Why? Why not?

Are there any ideas you particularly like that you have researched?

A YouTube link you may wish to watch first is…

BIG IDEA – PSHE

In the file below, you will see several pictures of gardens.

Play some calming music as you look at each picture.

Discuss with an adult what you like about each garden. Choose your favourite.

Now, close your eyes again. Imagine a garden. It is a beautiful ‘garden of dreams’. It can have whatever animals, birds, plants, flowers you like in it. You can make these animals up, too!

On a piece of paper, design your own bird that would live in the ‘garden of dreams’. Your bird can be as colourful as you like. It can look like a real bird or it can be completely made up.
