Today’s Live Session CANCELLED

Today’s Live Zoom Subject: NONE

Unfortunately, I am on a course this morning so will be unable to hold the live zoom session that normally takes place at 11AM. The 11AM live sessions will resume again tomorrow.

Early Bird Maths

We begin each day with ‘Early Bird Maths’. It is to support children in becoming more fluent with aspects of maths that we have learnt. Similar ideas are repeated so that children become familiar with the four basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Please see below for answers to Monday’s Early Bird. Please self-mark your answers.

Whole Class Reading (WCR)

To practise our reading; becoming more fluent and increasing our understanding, we take part in WCR daily. Our objective this term is to retrieve information from a text and record it through writing. This is tricky stuff so there will be lots of opportunities to practise this. As well, there will be a daily challenge to come up with your own questions.

Have a go at the attached, read the text and answer the questions about this piece of text. Then, can you think of any other questions you could ask?

Maths

Follow the instructions below and complete the shapes scavenger hunt worksheet.

Watch the video below entitled ”Make 2D and 3D shapes” via the below link. Listen to the narrator. He will ask you some questions, pause the video when asked and have a go yourself!

English

Watch the story of ‘Mrs Armitage on Wheels’ in the link below.

Write down 5 additions that Mrs Armitage makes to her bicycle.

Please write in full sentences, using capital letters and full stops/exclamation marks.

Challenge: Can you use temporal (time) connectives to tell the reader when Mrs Armitage made the addition to her bicycle.

The picture below shows some temporal connectives that you could use.

Big Idea: DT

Discuss your work yesterday with an adult.

Explain to them why you chose each material.

Together, think of the properties of the materials and why they would be suitable (the right one) for each part of your car.

Use the files below to help your dicussion.

Then, use the ‘Bloom’s Taxonomy Sheet below to answer the question (if you have a printer – in colour, please).

If you don’t have a printer, please answer the question onto a separate sheet of paper.

Big Idea: PSHE

Think about (and discuss with an adult) some of your achievements. This may be in sport, acting, playing, learning, music, etc.

When have you found something difficult but you have been resilient and been successful?

Can you fill in the treasure chest worksheet?

Please send your Big Idea work for both DT (Bloom Taxonomy) and PSHE (Jigsaw Worksheet) to me at r.place@meadowsideacademy.org
